Bayswater Waves is committed to providing inclusive, accessible and welcoming facilities for all members of the community.
The centre offers a range of purpose-designed change spaces to support different access needs:
- Family & Accessible Change Rooms (Wave Pool & Outdoor Pool)
Private, flexible spaces suitable for families, carers and individuals requiring additional support
- Restricted Use Accessible Change Facility (Hydro Pool)
Designed to support users of the hydrotherapy pool, with features tailored to disability (mobility and rehabilitation)
- Restricted Use Changing Places Facilities (MLAK)
Available for eligible users. Must have one of the following:
- Disability Parking Permit
- Disability Card (or similar proof of disability)
- A letter from a doctor, medical professional, or community health centre
- A letter from a disability support organisation
- Valid Companion Card
- Accessible toilets and change areas located throughout the facility
- Dry change cubicles on pool deck for convenient and discreet use
These facilities are designed to support independence, dignity and ease of access for all visitors.
Safe Use of Change Rooms
To ensure a safe and inclusive environment:
- Children aged 8 years and under may use a change room of the opposite gender when accompanied by a parent or guardian, and must remain within line of sight
- Patrons aged 8 years and over are required to use a gender-appropriate or family change room
Visitors who require additional privacy, assistance or flexibility are encouraged to utilise the family and accessible change facilities available.
Bayswater Waves offers a Changing Places facility for people with disabilities needing extra space and assistance in restrooms. These secure, clean facilities use the Master Locksmith Access Key (MLAK) system for access.
Who can access a key?
- People needing assistance with toileting or changing.
- Carers, family, support workers, and disability service providers.
- Others approved by the City on a case-by-case basis.
How to get a key?
– Apply via Master Locksmiths Association
– Companion Cardholders can apply via National Disability Services
– Facility staff can assist eligible users upon proof of eligibility.
