Roof Replacement Works at Bayswater Waves

The City of Bayswater is undertaking important improvement works at Bayswater Waves from 7 April 2025, including the replacement of a large section of the facility’s roof and gutters. These upgrades will address infrastructure not included in the recent refurbishment and will significantly improve the overall functionality, safety and experience for patrons.

To make the most of this opportunity, additional maintenance works will also be completed, such as:

  • Improving spa jet functionality
  • Repairing and replacing tiles in the hydrotherapy and steam room areas
  • Undertaking sauna maintenance
  • Repainting and cosmetic touch-ups

These works are essential to maintaining Bayswater Waves as a premier aquatic and fitness destination for our community.

Temporary Vehicle Access Update – Thursday 24 April

As part of the ongoing Bayswater Waves Roof Replacement Works, a crane lift has been scheduled for Thursday 24 April 2025, between 7:00am and 2:00pm.

During this time, the following traffic and access changes will apply:

  • Vehicle entry will be available via Broun Avenue only

  • No access from Broadway will be permitted for the duration of the lift

  • Carpark access will be partially impacted

  • We recommend allowing extra time for arrival and departure

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we carry out these essential upgrades to improve the facility for all patrons.

Managing Disruptions

While the works are confirmed, some temporary closures and program adjustments will be required throughout April and early May to ensure safety while contractors are onsite. These closures are planned to take place in stages, and we will do everything possible to minimise disruption and keep patrons informed.

Where possible, alternate options will be provided, including:

  • Access to Morley Sport & Recreation Centre and The RISE gyms at no additional cost for health club members
  • Relocated group fitness classes
  • Adjusted swim lesson locations
  • Continued use of the 25m and 50m pools

Group Fitness

All Group Fitness service changes as a result of the Roof Replacement Works are now completed.

School Holidays

We understand that April is a busy time for families. To help keep kids active and entertained during the holidays, we’re excited to confirm that the giant inflatable obstacle course will be available daily in the 50m pool for the entire school holiday period — regardless of the works.

The April Swim School Holiday Program will also be going ahead as planned from 14–17 April, with adjustments in place to ensure adequate pool space for all classes.

Q: Will Bayswater Waves be completely closed?
A: No — the centre will remain open throughout the project. Only certain areas will be temporarily closed in stages, with alternate access and services provided wherever possible.

Q: Will any pools stay open?
A: Yes — the 25m and 50m pools will remain open, and Learn to Swim classes, including Holiday Programs, will be relocated when needed.

Q: Will group fitness continue?
A: Yes. Some classes may be rescheduled or relocated, and members will also have access to group fitness classes at Morley and The RISE during any gym closures.

Q: Can I use another facility during the works?
A: Absolutely. Health club members will have free access to Morley Sport & Recreation Centre and The RISE during any affected periods.

Q: What’s available for kids during the school holidays?

A: Complimentary membership suspensions will be available for members who prefer not to use alternate options during the works. Email waves.gym@bayswater.wa.gov.au and our friendly staff will assist with your suspension.

A: Yes — the main indoor change rooms will remain open and accessible during the works.

Q: Will disability access be affected?
