Swim School Holiday Programs

Summer is when kids spend the most time around pools, beaches and rivers, so it’s also the most important time to keep swimming lessons consistent. Bayswater Waves’ January Swim School Holiday Programs are a great way to maintain momentum, build confidence, and keep children progressing through their Swim and Survive journey.

Inclusions for participants and families: entry for the participant, spectators free, entry 1 hour prior to the lesson, and the ability to stay and swim after the lesson with access to the pools (excluding the hydro area).

Why Holiday Lessons Matter

Holiday programs help children:

  • Maintain continuity in their development (skills are retained better when lessons stay consistent)

  • Stay confident and “water-ready” during the busiest time of year around water

  • Build fitness, technique and endurance that supports everything from confident play to stronger stroke development

Carnival Ready, Stages 10–12, and Bronze Medallion

For families with children progressing into higher stages, the second week program includes targeted options:

  • Carnival Ready sessions to help students sharpen skills and confidence for school swimming and racing.

  • Swim and Survive Stages 10–12 align to Royal Life Saving’s “Survival Strand,” building capability beyond strokes, including survival skills and stronger water competence.

  • Bronze Medallion provides an excellent pathway for teens into lifesaving and aquatic leadership, with Royal Life Saving outlining a minimum age of 14 (or turning 14 in the calendar year), and your program includes prerequisites and home theory requirements.

Safety Message for Summer

Swim skills are essential, but so is active supervision. Royal Life Saving’s Keep Watch campaign reinforces that active supervision is one of the most important actions to prevent drowning, alongside restricting access, teaching water safety skills, and being prepared to respond.

At Bayswater Waves, children under 6 must wear a Watch Around Water wristband and have an adult in the water with them outside lesson time, and children under 13 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
